Silicone Heat Transfer Primer
Overview
Silicone heat transfer primer is a special primer for heat transfer printing on high-temperature vulcanized silicone rubber products. Silicone rubber is non-polar, so ordinary adhesives usually cannot achieve ideal bonding results.
This primer is specially designed for surface treatment of silicone rubber. It can effectively increase the surface polarity of silicone rubber and greatly improve bonding performance. After treatment, silicone rubber also achieves excellent results for painting and screen printing. Apply it to high-temperature silicone sheets, then carry out heat transfer printing to transfer heat transfer patterns onto the silicone surface.
Performance Specifications
1. Appearance: Colorless, transparent organic solution with low viscosity
2. Stability: 1-year shelf life at room temperature. Neutral, non-corrosive to iron packaging drums.
Technical Data
Viscosity: 2–5 cps
Solid content: ≥50%
Color: Transparent
Compliance Standard: SGS
Instructions for Use
1. Wipe contaminants (oil, release agent, etc.) off the target surface of the silicone rubber substrate with toluene.
2. Apply the primer onto the pretreated substrate by printing, brushing or spraying, and ensure uniform coating.
3. Place the coated silicone sheet on a rack for room-temperature drying:
- Fast-dry type: 5–15 minutes
- Slow-dry type: 30–60 minutes
Avoid dust contamination during drying.
4. Heat transfer printing can be performed once fully dried.
Application Scope
Silicone heat transfer primer is widely used for heat transfer printing on silicone rubber foot pads, silicone ornaments and other silicone components.
Precautions
1. Tightly seal the cap after use.
2. Flammable. Keep away from fire and heat sources. Store in a cool and dry place.
3. Excess primer can be wiped off with a cloth dipped in thinner.
4. Shake well before use for optimal performance. 3–5% curing agent may be added for enhanced bonding strength if required.
